Holden Hits the Beach Between the Flags
The red and yellow-capped clubbies that patrol Australia’s surf beaches every weekend are as iconic as Holden or the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Since 1907, volunteers have been hitting the beach to rescue those in need and educate us on beach safety. And with nearly 170,000 members in 313 clubs, the not-for-profit Surf Life Saving Australia is the largest organisation of its kind in the world.
Holden is proud to be the latest supporter of the SLSA. Our three-year partnership will see the beach-loving Colorado 4WD adopted as the organisation’s official patrol vehicle to provide rapid emergency response.
As well as that, Holden will provide financial assistance and, through its national dealer network, actively promote the SLSA’s key public safety messages.
With the concerning number of recent drownings over the holiday period, this couldn’t come at a better time. Even better, SLSA want to achieve zero preventable deaths in Australian waters, which aligns perfectly with Holden’s own philosophy on safety.
“Safety is our top priority at Holden and we’re passionate about having a positive impact on local communities, so the chance to support such a vital service and an iconic organisation is a great opportunity for us,” says Holden Chairman and Managing Director Mark Bernhard.
While saving lives is at the heart of SLSA, the surf club culture also helps build strong, healthy and dedicated communities through regular competitions across the country.
And if you’ve ever witnessed a dozen nippers taking to the surf in a swim or board race on a sunny Sunday, you also know it’s heaps of fun.
There are plenty of ways you too can become involved as a patrol member, managing the nippers or working behind the scenes as a club official so to find your nearest club and sign up, visit www.sls.com.au.
