Watch the Jamie Whincup Interview
As Australia’s favourite form of motorsport, it doesn’t get any more exciting than the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
In its latest version, this fast, furious and edge-to-edge touring car racing delivers adrenaline in spades for both competitors and spectators alike.
And few know that more than Jamie Whincup, who has been at the pointy end of the competition for the past ten years having won a record six Supercars Championships - including four back to back between 2011 and 2014 - and four Bathurst titles.
After first climbing into a kart in 1991 at the age of seven, Whincup quickly developed an innate skill behind the wheel and following a series of rookie titles, a win in the Senior Formula A Karting Series was the ultimate 15th birthday present.
Now 14 years later, Whincup lined up again in the first race of the season in Adelaide last month in a VF Commodore for Red Bull Holden Racing Team. Holden has had plenty of success in Adelaide with Commodores taking the chequered flag in every race since the New Generation Supercars were introduced in 2013, and 2017 was no different.
